there are certain things people have told me not to do and i am glad that i did them anyway.
for example, drive cross country toward the blinding white heat of the southwest in the dead of summer with a guy all my friends thought was sketchy (and he was but who the fuck cares) to live on an art commune, sleeping in the shadiest motels, to parade through the desert playing a swan song to a dead wife and the sunset, to tell the native american lady that you will NOT barter your cowboy boots for a pair of moccasins, crawl into dark steaming caves with recovered crack addicts followed immediately by swimming reckless & naked across the Rio Grande.
so fuck anybody who tells you not to do what you want to.
